Instructors:
Darla Miller - Rescuer of mixed breeds all
my life, I got my first Afghan Hound from the SPCA in 1995
and fell in love with the breed. Today I am proud to say
we have 4 Afghans who have championed and 1 rescue Afghan plus
3 championed Tibetan Terriers at Blu Hill Kennels. I have
shown or worked with everyone of them, groom and am chief poop
scooper.
I am a retired teacher who enjoys helping others, especially
mentoring juniors. I am looking forward to passing on my
knowledge to those new to the world of showmanship as I have had
the
great fortune of others mentoring me over the years.
Beth Abate - Beth began showing dogs at
age eleven, competing in Junior Showmanship, Conformation
and Obedience with her first dog, a Cocker Spaniel. She
also worked for two professional handlers as a young
girl. Over the years she has continued to show in Conformation,
frequently handling dogs for others. Beth had the honor
of being chosen Best Handler over 35 other handlers at
a
George Alston handling seminar in the 90's. She has bred
and/or shown a number of breeds, including Cocker Spaniels,
Bernese Mountain Dogs, Australian Shepherds, Salukis,
and Wheaten Terriers. Her current dog, a Wheaten named Tucker,
finished his Championship at one year and two weeks of
age.
Tucker is now competing in Agility at CPE, AKC and NADAC
shows. Beth loves showing dogs in all different areas
of competition and enjoys helping others to learn to show
in
Conformation. Junior Showmanship is a special interest
for her as well because it was such an integral part of her
childhood. |
