The following three links, regarding the importance of puppy socialization at an early age, address why CCDTC strongly supports allowing puppies in classes as early as 8 weeks of age.
Note: we will offer AKC Canine Good Citizen Testing on a regular basis.
During class sessions any dog who is not in the ring with his handler and/or the instructor must be in a crate. The “next dog up” may be out of crate, but out of “dog leaving ring” flow
Baby Puppy Class
(for puppies 8 weeks to 18 weeks of age at start of class) No Pre-requisite 7 weeks - Limit of 8 dogs per class One dog per handler unless the instructor has given you express permission. Note: 1st week of class is Orientation and is for "humans" only. Goals: introduce the puppies to novel experiences and obstacles, practice leash walking, and provide basic training ideas. Discuss crate training, house training, testing for your pup and making vet visits and grooming a good experience for puppies and people alike. Vaccinations: CCDTC does not require any specific vaccination protocol. Rabies is not required in the county until 6 months of age. We do require a statement from your veterinarian that the puppy is appropriately vaccinated. Safety Protocol: Masks covering nose and mouth are required. Face Shields are fine as an additional item, but cotton or paper masks are REQUIRED.

These obedience classes are designed especially for puppies 5 - 12 months of age. Socialization and basic skills are emphasized, helping you train your dog to have good manners, while still having fun. Many of the classes will offer the AKC STAR Puppy Program. Vaccinations: CCDTC does not require any specific vaccination protocol. Rabies is not required in the county until 6 months of age. We do require a statement from your veterinarian that the puppy is appropriately vaccinated. Safety Protocol: Masks covering nose and mouth are required. This class is equivalent to Puppy Kindergarten, but for the older dog that is 12+ months with little to no prior formal training. The dog may be a rescue, a loved family pet that needs some manners work, or an older dog that needs a refresher. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Novice Manners or Family Pet Manners or Instructor/Training Director approval. 7 weeks - Limit of 8 dogs per class One dog per handler unless the instructor has given you express permission. This class will build upon skills learned in previous manners classes. The focus for this class will be to increase distance and duration to behaviors, reducing reinforcement, and proofing against distraction. Additional skills may be introduced. Vaccinations: CCDTC does not require any specific vaccination protocol. Rabies is not required in the county until 6 months of age. We do require a statement from your veterinarian that the puppy is appropriately vaccinated. Mondays 7pm - 7:45pm Carole Bridges September 26 - November 7, 2022 / skip: None Mask required CGC PREP CLASS 4 Weeks Are you interested in taking and passing the Canine Good Citizen test? For students who already know the basic commands and want to improve commands to meet the CGC test standards. All ten items will be covered in class. The last week includes a Practice Test. Vaccinations: CCDTC does not require any specific vaccination protocol. Rabies is not required in the county until 6 months of age. Registering for a Class at CCDTC-
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING: Classes consist of one 45 minute session per week for 3, 4 or 7 weeks. Pre-Registration and payment for a class is required with exception of Drop-In Conformation Classes. Register early as classes fill quickly! Due to USPS delivery delays as well as frequency registrars pick up mail, we STRONGLY suggest using PayPal to register for classes. Registration is done by first received. Receipt of payment does NOT guarantee a slot in the class. You will be notified regarding registration status. If the class is filled before the registrar receives your registration, you will be refunded in full. We do not create wait lists. Registering for a "future class" that is not on the schedule will result in a full refund. Additions to the class scheduled are posted on Fridays. Some classes now have pre-requisites. CCDTC does not require any vaccination other than those required by Clermont County (Rabies) and those you and your vet feel are needed for good health.
