Saturday July6,2019    The PhysicalDog        9am - 5pmSeminar

The Physical Dog seminar focuses on a topic near & dear to Suzanne Clothier’s heart: the physical dog. She first published her award winning video, Your Athletic Dog, back in 1995. Her Relationship Centered Training pulls together her knowledge of structure, movement, functional assessment, body type and how all of these factors work together with behavior and emotions. Her keen eye for movement and functional athleticism is remarkable. The late R.K. Anderson DVM noted that Suzanne “was the best observer of dogs that he had ever met.”

Observation skills can be taught, and Suzanne loves teaching people how to really see their dogs in new ways. Each dog is a unique blend of skeletal structure, functional abilities, conditioning, challenges and talents. Knowing how to understand your dog’s body helps you understand him at a deeper level — and understand how to keep him safe and functioning at his best.

You will learn how physical problems are often mislabeled as behavior or training problems, and learn to recognize the most common issues of pain, guarding, structural and functional issues that dogs present.

Our dogs cannot speak to us with words to tell us they are sore, uncomfortable, out of balance, unsure or just feeling “off.” But their bodies can and do tell us immense amounts. Learning to read the physical dog gives the concerned, humane handler a way to be sure that they can answer two of The Elemental Questions: “How is this for you?” and “Can you?” Suzanne will use video, hands-on exercises, and observation of live dogs to make sure that you will never see your dog the same way again!

Sunday July 7, 2019  Drive, Enthusiasm, Brakes and Steering: Keeping Dogs in the Think & Learn Zone
9am - 5pm Seminar

Is your dog is ready to conquer his next title? Or does he worry about the dog next door? Do you struggle with a reactive dog who seems to be part rocket and part rock-head? Do you wish you knew how to keep your dog in the Think & Learn zone? Wonder how your dog can tell you when things are “just right” or beginning to be “not so good”? Wonder how to keep the drive and enthusiasm but also have some brakes and steering?

All trainers struggle with the wide range of training and behavior issues that have their origin in arousal, sensory stimulation and reactivity. Whether you’re an old pro or a new trainer, you and your dog will benefit from Suzanne Clothier’s approach to understanding arousal, reactivity, behavior and performance. Her Relationship Centered Approach is sensible, humane and effective.

This seminar will help all handlers deepen their understanding of arousal, reactivity, how dogs think & learn (or don’t!) when aroused, perfect performance vs. perfect train wreck, and how to help their dogs be the best they can be.
CASE STUDY DOGS WILL BE WANTED. The link to APPLY (Suzanne decides the case study dogs) to have your dog as a case study will be sent after you register and pay to attend the event.
Clarifying: Applying to have your dog used as a case study DOES NOT guarantee your dog will be chosen. If your dog is chosen as a case study you must still pay the registration fee and attend the seminar!!
